Description
A postdoctoral scholar position is available to study the virulence mechanisms and genetics of poxviruses in the NIH funded laboratory of Dr. Rachel Roper (tenured) in the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University (http://www.ecu.edu/cs-dhs/microbiology/fac_roper.cfm). The project will provide an opportunity for the candidate to develop and implement new ideas to study antigen presentation, mutational analysis and biochemistry of viral protein interference with immune responses. In addition, he/she will be part of a dynamic group of scientists working with a wide range of host-pathogen models. The ideal candidate should have a Ph.D. (or equivalent) degree in molecular biology, immunology, virology or a related field. Funding is available for at least 3 years.

Skills
General tissue culture and virus culture, biochemistry, cloning and mutagenesis experience desired.
