Description
We seek a highly qualified individual to conduct research at a laboratory, College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Minnesota at Twin Cities, on molecular virology, pathogenesis and immunity of avian influenza virus, emerging bunyaviruses (Heartland virus) or Zika virus, and vaccine study. The individual should have a Ph.D. or MD in Immunology, Virology, Microbiology, Genetics, or related field, with demonstrated research experience/training in molecular biology techniques. Research will focus on host-virus interactions, viral innate and adaptive immunity, screening of the intrinsic restriction factors, and vaccine development. Ideal candidates will be expected to have experience performing research in the areas of immunity or host-pathogen interactions. Experience with virus-host interaction, reverse genetics, innate or cell-mediated immunity, bioinformatics and NextGen data analysis, or vaccine, is a plus. Individuals who are self-motivated with solid virology and/or immunology background are encouraged to apply. Our laboratories have a number of exciting ongoing projects related to viral immune evasion and pathogenesis (J. Biol. Chem. 2016, PMID:27226560; J. Virol 2014, PMID:24335286; J. Virol. 2012, PMID:22623799; FASEB J. 2014, PMID:24599967). This is a two-year project and renewal is possible pending on performance and funding availability.
