The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), Division of Intramural Research (DIR), Laboratory of Clinical Infectious Diseases (LCID) is offering a staff clinician position in mycology clinical and translational research.

LCID conducts clinical and basic studies of human infectious and immunologic diseases, with a focus on comprehensive understanding and management of patients and their diseases. LCID focuses on pathogenesis, pathophysiology, treatment, and prevention of infectious diseases.

An enthusiastic and highly-motivated clinician scientist will work within a collaborative group to utilize the most current immunologic and statistical genetic methods to understand the human response to fungal pathogens, specifically, the AIDS-related pathogen Cryptococcus neoformans. Interactions with several US and overseas collaborative clinical sites will be required to further apply findings to a wide range of HIV and non-HIV infected patients.

The successful applicant must have an M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. He or she will be responsible for clinical care and protocol design related to patient-centered research analyzing experimental results, preparing manuscripts, and helping with the supervision of students and residents. Our laboratory provides strong support for the development of independent projects leading to a productive career for post-fellowship candidates.
