Main Duties and Responsibilities

The Department of Infectious Disease at MedImmune, LLC is seeking a skilled molecular biologist with expertise in virology and/or gene therapy. As a member of the Infectious Disease group, you will work to develop broadly neutralizing antibodies targeting respiratory pathogens. Moreover, you may investigate alternative delivery platforms for biologic products, including but not limited to viral vectors and nucleic acid based approaches.

The appropriate candidate will be a productive bench scientist with extensive experience in molecular biology and knowledge of some of the following areas: virology, gene therapy, antibody development and respiratory biology. The position requires the ability to embrace new technologies quickly and the ability to perform in a fast-paced, matrix-structured work environment.

Essential Requirements
•Degree in virology, molecular biology, immunology, or other related field.
•MS degree plus two to five years relevant experience in industry or academia

•BS degree plus three to eight years relevant experience in industry or academia
•Strong background in molecular biology with experience in cloning, sequencing, RT-PCR and qPCR
•Highly skilled with cell culture (including primary isolates) and viral propagation
•Experience performing standard laboratory procedures for the study of protein expression such as Western blot, ELISA and immuno-staining techniques

Desirable Requirements
•Hands-on experience with picornaviruses
•Vector engineering for gene therapy (AAV, Adenovirus, RNA viruses)
•Experience working with animal models of chronic viral disease or respiratory disease
•Experience in evaluating immunological responses to viral infection by various means such as multi-color flow cytometry, EliSpot, MSD and/or Luminex
