Eurofins Lancaster Laboratories PSS is searching for a Scientist – Virology in Lincoln, NE.

Scientist – Virology responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Maintenance of mammalian cell culture stocks to support process development experiments.
Perform viral infection experiments in a BL-2 setting with veterinary pathogens.
Support the set-up and running of bioreactors including: Celligen BLUs, B Brauns as well as larger scale HyClone SUB reactors. Includes decontaminating and cleaning bioreactors, assembling bioreactors, calibrating probes and sampling bioreactors.
Carry out analytical assay support by running samples for media analysis and cell counting.
Maintain a research laboratory notebook to document all lab-based work, write basic study reports, deliver memos, and assist Process team members with more complicated report writing.
Order and stock laboratory and cell culture supplies for the BDev Virology laboratory.
Work with multiple scientists within the group to effectively schedule work. Be flexible to work with other BDev groups in Lincoln and Kalamazoo if workloads so require.

Skills
The ideal candidate would possess:

Educational background: Course work and/or laboratory experience in biology, biochemistry, immunology or related disciplines.
Training in aseptic techniques and cell culture.
Familiarity in working with BL-2 pathogens and the use of appropriate PPE.
Highly computer literate. Capable of quickly learning and adapting to new computer programs.
Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
Other Computer skills required: Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook.
Capable of interpreting and carrying-out experimental design and protocols.
The person filling this position works in the laboratory. There may be exposure to chemical and bio hazardous materials.
Individual must have good organizational skills. Individual should be highly motivated, must be a team player, and capable of working with minimal oversight in a cross-functional environment.
Strong computer, scientific, and organizational skills
Excellent communication (oral and written) and attention to detail
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, self-motivation, adaptability, and a positive attitude
Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, keep accurate records, follow instructions, and comply with company policies
Basic Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, or other related degree concentration, or equivalent directly-related experience (two years of directly related industry experience is equivalent to one full-time year of college in related major)
Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship
Position is full-time, Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m., occasional night and/or weekend work, and overtime as needed. Candidates currently living within a commutable distance of Lincoln, NE are encouraged to apply.
