Basic qualifications:
•        BS degree with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience OR a MS degree with 5 years of experience in biotech or pharmaceutical industry.
•        Experience in molecular and cell biology techniques, interpretation and analysis of the data and presentation of the results.
•        Experience in routine cell culture techniques, microscopy, protein detection and gene expression, quantitation and data analysis techniques.


Preferred qualifications:
•        BS or MS degree focused in chemistry, biochemistry or biology
•        Knowledge and hands-on experience with cellular, sub-cellular, enzymatic and related biochemical methods used for investigative and mechanistic toxicology desirable.
•        Some experience with FACS and mass spec based methods (e.g. LC/MS and LC/MS/MS) would be desirable.

ViiV Healthcare is a company focused exclusively on discovery, development and commercialization of medicines for the treatment or prevention of HIV. We are in the process of establishing a new R&D site in Connecticut for our research and development staff currently leasing space at Bristol-Myers Squibb’s (BMS) facility in Wallingford, CT. In July 2017 we anticipate moving into a newly renovated facility in Branford, CT where we will operate as ViiV Healthcare’s 3rd largest location. Our new facility will comprise of approximately 21,000 sq ft of lab and office space, and will have state-of-the-art laboratories for biology, chemistry, pharmaceutical sciences, biochemistry, cell biology and virology. We are seeking an experienced scientist with expertise in in vitro molecular and cell biology techniques to support drug candidate optimization/selection.

Skills
Job Description:
•        Custom develop and validate in vitro assays to address DMPK and toxicology-related issues as and when needed
•        Conduct cell culture studies using primary cells and cell lines
•        Cell sorting by FACS, cell isolation, preparing subcellular fractions for assays
•        Application of protein expression/detection and gene expression, quantitation and data analysis techniques
•        Design and conduct in vitro studies to understand the mechanism of toxicology issues
•        Work with CRO’s to conduct specialized in vitro assays in support of drug discovery programs
•        Write and maintain non GLP in vitro protocols and SOPs
•        Develop exploratory biomarker assays for safety or efficacy studies
•        Participate as part of a highly collaborative and focused team
•        A highly motivated individual with excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
•        An instinctive team player with excellent people skills
