The primary responsibilities of this role, Director Data Generation & Observational Studies Research Strategy, are to:

Develop and implement a data generation research strategy for multiple Therapeutic Areas (TA);
Conduct outcomes research studies (health economics, patient-reported outcomes, retrospective data analyses, epidemiology and health services research) while working closely and collaboratively with other functional areas in U.S. Medical Affairs, U.S. Commercial & Government Customers (CGC), Global Data Generation & Business Excellence, Global Market Access, Global Real Life Evidence, Brand Teams and Data Analytics/Market Research;
Lead all outcomes research strategic activities across all therapeutic areas, contributing outcomes research expertise and managing/developing data generation colleagues assigned to them as well as our Fellowship programs and those individuals;
Oversee Data Generation strategic planning for all therapeutic areas;
Provide Data Generation leadership to key internal cross-functional TA leadership teams;
Lead all Data Generation activities involved in developing outcomes-based strategies and tactics aligned with medical and commercial plans;
Develop and implement Data Generation research strategy including development of study design & conduct, identification of data source, and publication plan (including presentations and other methods of dissemination);
Closely communicate with US Data Generation VP in the strategic management and implementation of all Data Generation plans;
Ensure quality of design, execution, and publication of Data Generation studies and quality of models & tools developed for franchise;
Develop TA Data Generation budgets, present to appropriate levels of management for approval, and manage budgeted funds in conjunction with direct report(s);
Drive Data Generation strategy and tactical development from phase IIIb-IV and post-launch for the US marketplace;
Ensure relevant endpoints and study design for clinical trial program to meet the needs of US payers;
Monitor relevant Data Generation related US policy relevant to TA;
Represent US Data Generation on cross-functional teams;
Work collaboratively with the Global Data Generation & Business Excellence and the Global Market Access Department;
Participate in business planning and annual budgeting process;
Develop and manage research partnerships with academia, thought leaders, managed care and other customers, and contract research organizations;
Attend and present at professional meetings;
Facilitate the communication of Data Generation research results to customers through interaction with Medical Affairs, Brand Teams, CGC teams, and other key internal customers;
Actively provide direction, manage performance, create development plans, and facilitate development activities for direct reports;
Directly manage research studies and other outcomes projects, as needed.


Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge and expertise in Oncology and specialty markets.

Required Qualifications:

Ph.D. or MD in healthcare and worked in the pharmaceutical or related industry for at least ten (10) years;
Experience in managing and leading home office based research teams with constant interface with business units as well as managed markets executives;
Strong understanding of current US Healthcare system;
Strong clinical & scientific expertise in multiple therapeutic areas;
Knowledge of Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR) disciplines including drafting clinical & HO documents (i.e. clinical protocols, clinical reports, integrated summaries and/or a clinical development plans) as well as an in-depth understanding of clinical statistics and evidenced based medicine;
Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills;
Excellent organizational skills and ability to work independently;
Excellent strategic thinking;
Clear demonstration of Business Acumen;
Demonstrates clear leadership and the ability to interact and work cross functionally;
Ability to develop strong internal and external relationships;
Travel 25% to 50% both local in US and also international.
