Description
The Medical Laboratory Technologist II serves as an advanced technologist in a clinical laboratory that performs rabies necropsy, cell culture, viral culture, and molecular technical assays for the detection of viruses causing various infectious diseases.

This lead position will:

Perform assays as well as provide technical leadership and training for other personnel who perform highly technical viral culture and molecular procedures for the detection of viral pathogens.
Interpret data and report test results and interpretations accurately and in a timely manner.
Provide consultation with medical personnel and program area staff regarding test availability, results, and interpretations.

Skills
Successful completion of all CLIA '88 requirements for testing personnel in a high complexity laboratory. Candidates must attach a copy of their transcripts to the application or provide an unofficial copy of their transcripts at the time of the interview.
Technical and theoretical experience performing and troubleshooting microbiological, virological, and serological procedures and interpreting laboratory results.
Basic theoretical knowledge of the pathogenesis of rabies necropsy and how the medical laboratory science is applied.
Demonstrated awareness of the hazards of working with potentially infectious materials to include appropriate precautions to avoid infection.
Ability to provide medical consultation to other healthcare providers.


Notes
MT(ASCP) certification
Cell culture, viral culture, molecular, and/or rabies necropsy testing experience
Lead testing experience
Ability to instruct others in highly complex technical procedures
Ability to participate in work planning
Demonstrated written and oral communication skills
