Two graduate assistantship positions are available for those who are seeking MS or PhD degree in Food Science at University of Florida in Food Science and Human Nutrition Department.
Successful candidates will execute basic and applied research on food and environmental microbial safety, particularly on enteric viruses. The areas of interest include but not limited to, isolation, detection and characterization of viruses, environmental transmission, microbial source-tracking, physical and chemical methods to inactivate viruses in food and on contact surface, and in-depth study of virus structure and functionality in microbial community. The applicants are also expected to assist in teaching courses, mentor students, and contribute to departmental extension activities.
