I am seeking a self-motivated and enthusiastic postdoc/laboratory technician to perform scientific experiments in support of general laboratory research goals of understanding virus-host interactions. I use two model systems - primate lentiviruses and yeast totiviruses.

Lets chat about some of the exciting projects that I have going in my lab!


Grow and maintain cultured human/primate cell lines and fungal isolates with good aseptic technique, carry out molecular cloning to produce recombinant DNA molecules, perform viral infection assays in human/primate and fungal cell lines, extract, purify and analyze DNA, RNA and protein samples from cells and tissues.

Maintain laboratory supplies and consumables from PI’s budgets and assist in general management of the laboratory, including; organization, cleaning, and disposal of waste, ensure laboratory compliance with the University’s health and safety policies, maintain chemical and biological inventory systems to ensure efficient stock control. Manage all cryogenic stocks, biological samples and all written laboratory protocols. Maintain and ensure the safe and efficient operation of the Rowley laboratory Biosafety level 2+ facility.

Assisting other researchers in the lab, such as undergraduate students, graduate students in proper laboratory safety and equipment usage; assist in data analysis and manuscript/grant preparation, liaise with core facilities personnel to facilitate use of services and equipment for the betterment of all laboratory research projects.

Self-motivated, enthusiastic and willing to apply their skills and to learn new skill to tackle important biological problems related to infectious disease.
Prior experience working in the biological fields of microbiology, virology or cell biology.
Experience in producing written documents relevant to the communication of laboratory results, including scientific papers, conference abstracts, progress reports.
