An NIH-funded postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Douglas LaCount at Purdue University to study the virus-host cell protein interactions of emerging hemorrhagic fever viruses (grant number AI114814). All viruses target cellular proteins to obtain functions not encoded in their genomes, to manipulate the cellular environment and to thwart the host immune response. However, little is known about how emerging hemorrhagic fever viruses interact with their host cells. We are seeking an enthusiastic postdoctoral fellow who is willing to work collaboratively and independently to discover interactions between viral and host cell proteins and to characterize their roles in virus replication.

Candidates must have a Ph.D. and a strong background in molecular biology and mammalian cell culture.  Experience in virology, host-pathogen interactions or protein-protein interactions is highly desirable.

The successful candidate must demonstrate U.S. employment eligibility; Purdue University will not provide VISA sponsorship for this position.

To apply, please send a C.V., a cover letter describing previous research accomplishments and future career plans, and the names of three references with contact information. Materials should be sent via email to: Doug LaCount,, Purdue University, West Lafayette, IN.
