Description
An opening for an enthusiastic scientist to work in the Biosciences Division of SRI International is immediately available. Candidates are expected to bring contemporary approaches to engineering primary T cells. Primary responsibilities will include developing adoptive cell therapy using T cells for viral diseases. The successful candidate is expected to develop collaborations with scientific leaders in different areas. The person should be motivated to contribute intellectually in a dynamic team environment.

The Postdoctoral Fellow will genetically engineer primary T cells and validate them in vitro and in vivo for desired efficacy and safety. This will include, but not be limited to, enriching virus-specific primary T cells and quantification of their immune response when stimulated by the target cells. The candidate will develop assays including antigen binding, cell signaling, T cell activation, cytokine release and enzymatic activity. Experience in phage display, antibody engineering and/or vaccine immunology will be a plus.

Skills
Requirements:

Education: PhD in immunology, molecular and cell biology biochemistry, or related field with 0-2 years post-doctoral experience.

The successful candidate is expected to be an independent self-starter with experience and knowledge of contemporary techniques in T-cell immunology (PBMC isolation, transfection techniques, primary T-cell culture, flow cytometry, chromium release assay, cell signaling assay, cytokine release assay, chemotaxis assay, etc.) in the context of viral diseases. Hands-on expertise in molecular biology of antigen-specific T-cell receptors (TCR), transcriptional regulation, and use of in vivo models in context of viral diseases is desirable.

A post-offer, pre-laboratory placement physical examination may be required. Employment at SRI is contingent on successful completion of a background check.
