A postdoctoral research position is available immediately to study molecular mechanisms that enhance transcription and latency, and promote aging in human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infected patients. You may also be required to conduct research with drugs of abuse and HIV/HCV co-infected human biological specimens. The responsibilities include: planning, conducting, analyzing experiments, preparing manuscripts, and presenting data through seminars and posters at scientific talks and meetings.

The desired candidate must be willing to work with human peripheral blood, infected cell lines and human biological samples with viruses. The candidate should be experienced with molecular biology methods, mammalian tissue culture and transfections. Experience working with viruses and/or other human pathogens, prior experience with flow cytometry, ChIP assays and data analysis is desirable. Willingness to be trained to work with human biological samples (e.g. blood, tissue samples) is required. The applicant should have good command of English (speaking and writing).

Additionally, if needed, should be ready to supervise undergraduate or graduate students and research assistants in conducting sample preparation and data analysis.

A PhD in Biochemistry, Virology, Microbiology, Immunology, Genetics or related field is required. 1-2 years of research experience as postdoctoral level will be a plus. Publication history is desirable.
