We are seeking to appoint a post-doctoral scientist to work in Professor Polly Roy’s dynamic and productive research laboratory in London. For more general information on the work of the laboratory, please go here:

The successful applicant will undertake research in understanding intracellular trafficking mechanisms of complex double-stranded RNA viruses, particularly focussing on cellular signalling pathways during virus replication. The work will require multidisciplinary approaches, including various biochemical and biophysical techniques, various super-resolution microscopic techniques, high throughput mutagenesis and CRISPR Cas9 techniques. The project may require spending time abroad with different national and international collaborators. Applicant must have experience in designing experiments, analysis (including bioinformatics) of the data obtained, writing manuscript and presenting research findings at international conferences. The post requires in-depth background knowledge and expertise in advanced molecular RNA virology and biochemistry, including experience in cutting-edge genetic system of RNA viruses,

Applicants must have a PhD in Virology or Biochemistry, in depth background knowledge in Biochemistry and signalling pathways, experience in host virus interactions using CRISPR Cas9 techniques, experience in high throughput mutagenesis and selection method, strong experience of cell biology and molecular virology research, experience in manuscript writing and presentation in national and international conferences, demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team. This full-time post, based in London is funded by the Wellcome Trust from 1 June 2017 until 31 August 2019. The appointment will be made on LSHTM’s Academic Pathway Grade 6 scale in the range £37,889 to £43,028 per annum (inclusive of London Weighting). The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service. Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part time staff. In addition to this, there are discretionary “Director’s Days”. Membership of the Pension Scheme is available.
