Basic qualifications:
•        BS degree with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience OR a MS degree with 5 years of experience in biotech or pharmaceutical industry.
•        Experience with analytical and protein chemistry.
•        Familiarity with LC/MS analytical techniques and working experience with other routine analytical and biophysical techniques such as spectroscopy.

Preferred qualifications:
•        BS or MS degree focused in chemistry, biochemistry or biology is preferred
•        A good understanding of mass spectrometer operation and troubleshooting
•        Some experience with HPLC, LC/MS LC/TOF/MS and LC/MS/MS analysis of protein therapeutics would be desirable.
•        Knowledge and hands-on experience in protein separation and characterization techniques would be a plus.
•        Some experience conducting in vitro studies such as microsomal incubations is desirable.

ViiV Healthcare is a company focused exclusively on discovery, development and commercialization of medicines for the treatment or prevention of HIV. We are in the process of establishing a new R&D site in Connecticut for our research and development staff currently leasing space at Bristol-Myers Squibb’s (BMS) facility in Wallingford, CT. In July 2017 we anticipate moving into a newly renovated facility in Branford, CT where we will operate as ViiV Healthcare’s 3rd largest location. Our new facility will comprise of approximately 21,000 sq ft of lab and office space, and will have state-of-the-art laboratories for biology, chemistry, pharmaceutical sciences, biochemistry, cell biology and virology. We are seeking an experienced scientist in the area of bioanalysis to support drug candidate optimization/selection.

Job Description:
•        Develop mass spec based methods (e.g. LC/MS and LC/MS/MS) and perform analysis for the characterization and quantitation of small molecules, as well as evaluation of therapeutic proteins, including protein digestion and peptide separation and quantitation.
•        Develop other analytical and/or biochemical methods such as immunoassays as well as participation in supporting small and large molecule programs.
•        Troubleshoot and maintain instrumentation by applying knowledge of principals and function in a logical manner to resolve issues quickly.
•        Automate methods as needed to improve sample turn-around.
•        Conduct metabolite ID studies using LC/MS instrumentation.
•        Participate as part of a highly collaborative and focused team.
•        A highly motivated individual with excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
•        An instinctive team player with excellent people skills.
