Basic qualifications:
•        BS degree with a minimum of 10 years OR a MS degree with 5 years OR a PhD with 3 years of relevant experience in biotech or pharmaceutical industry.
•        Experience with developing formulations for parenteral and oral routes of administration.
•        Familiarity with analytical techniques and instrumentation involved with characterization and stability testing of pharmaceutical compounds.

Preferred qualifications:
•        BS or MS degree focused in chemistry, biochemistry or biology is preferred.
•        Experience with developing oral and parenteral formulations for exploratory non-GLP and GLP toxicology studies
•        Familiarity with characterization of physical properties (stability, solubility, lipophilicity) and solid state characterization (DSC, dissolution).
•        Experience with developing formulations for biological agents a plus.

ViiV Healthcare is a company focused exclusively on discovery, development and commercialization of medicines for the treatment or prevention of HIV. We are in the process of establishing a new R&D site in Connecticut for our research and development staff currently leasing space at Bristol-Myers Squibb’s (BMS) facility in Wallingford, CT. In July 2017 we anticipate moving into a newly renovated facility in Branford, CT where we will operate as ViiV Healthcare’s 3rd largest location. Our new facility will comprise of approximately 21,000 sq ft of lab and office space, and will have state-of-the-art laboratories for biology, chemistry, pharmaceutical sciences, biochemistry, cell biology and virology. We are seeking an experienced scientist with analytical and pharmaceutics expertise to support drug candidate optimization/selection.

Job Description:
•        Develop, prepare and analyze formulations to support toxicology, pharmacokinetic and other in vivo animal studies.   
•        Work with CRO’s to develop alternate delivery technologies such as SDD’s, long-acting agents and slow-release formulations.
•        Proactively address and/or solve formulation and delivery problems using scientific methods and computational approaches.
•        Work with members of the development team to define and characterize physico-chemical properties of the final dosage form consistent with project timelines.
•        Provide laboratory support as needed for project progression. Expand laboratory skills consistent with broad support of compound research and development, including bioanalytical quantitation using LC/MS as well as participating in studies assessing potential drug-drug interactions.
•        Participate as part of a highly collaborative and focused team.
•        A highly motivated individual with excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
•        An instinctive team player with excellent people skills.
