The University of Toledo College of Medicine and Life Sciences has an opening for a postdoc who will work on an American Heart Association (AHA)-funded project which studies innate immune responses, particularly the interferon system, to protect against virus infection.

Ideal applicants are expected to be highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to perform multiple research activities (multi-task) on a daily basis. Occasional weekend and/or night laboratory work may be necessary.

Working experience with routine laboratory techniques such as PCR, cloning, recombinant protein expression and purification, SDS-PAGE, western blotting, flow cytometry, fluorescence microscopy, and experience growing bacteria are required.

Ph.D. degree in biological/medical sciences (e.g., microbiology, molecular biology, biology, biochemistry, immunology) required.

Minimum five years laboratory research experience with molecular biology and biochemical techniques is required.

Basic electronic word processing, database management, and data analysis skills are required.

Applicant must be able to clearly speak and write technical data in English and have the ability to work independently.

Experience with maintaining mouse colony, breeding transgenic mice, genotyping and functional characterization will be a plus.

Experience with live animal handling is preferred.
