Description
The Bhaduri-McIntosh lab at the University of Florida seeks a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Associate to join a team of scientists that are using a cancer-causing virus to dissect DNA replication, DNA damage, and DNA repair.

The Bhaduri lab focuses on discovering fundamental biological pathways by studying interactions between the oncogenic virus Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) and its host, the human B cell. Using EBV, this lab:
•        Discovered a key role for the cellular transcription factor STAT3 in knocking down the DNA damage response, an intrinsic barrier to cancer. STAT3 is constitutively active in 70% of human cancers and this was the first indication of STAT3’s ability to promote tumorigenesis by interfering with DNA damage response signaling (Koganti, J. Virol 2013; Koganti, PNAS 2014).
•        Identified a functional network of proteins involving STAT3 and epigenetic silencing factors that simultaneously repress multiple copies of the viral genome to limit lytic stage-associated pathology to the host while promoting viral persistence and lymphomagenesis (Daigle, J. Virol 2010; Hill, J. Virol 2013; Koganti, J. Virol 2015; Li, J. Virol 2015; Li, Frontiers in Microbiology 2016; Li, PLoS Pathogens 2017). A broad role for STAT3 in restricting herpesvirus replicative phase has since been confirmed in KSHV and HSV1.

The Bhaduri lab provides a highly collaborative environment of graduate students, undergraduate students, post-doctoral fellows and clinical fellows within the group as well as ample opportunity for external collaborations. This is combined with rigorous mentoring to create an individualized development plan to achieve the career goals of each team member.
Please submit curriculum vitae, synopsis of past work, and contact information of 3 references to Dr. Sumita Bhaduri-McIntosh via the online posting.
