A postdoctoral position is immediately available for a candidate to work on molecular mosquito-arbovirus interactions in the laboratory of Dr. Alexander Franz, Dept. of Veterinary Pathobiology at the University of Missouri ( The NIH-funded research project (5-years) will investigate molecular mechanisms that arboviruses (dengue, Zika, and chikungunya viruses) use to disseminate from the midgut to secondary tissues in the mosquito Aedes aegypti. The research work encompasses molecular entomology and arbovirology.
We are seeking a postdoctoral fellow who has experience with molecular biological/biochemical laboratory techniques and holds a Ph.D. in entomology, vector biology, or virology. The candidate should be highly motivated with a keen interest to develop and pursue innovative approaches to address this exciting research topic. Fully equipped laboratories (BSL2 and BSL3), insectaries, and excellent on-campus core facilities (electron/confocal microscopy, genomics, proteomics) are available to conduct these studies.
