The Center for Predictive Medicine for Biodefense and Emerging Infectious Diseases (CPM) for the University of Louisville (UofL) stands as a unique resource for Kentucky and the greater region. The CPM provides oversight and scientific direction for the newly constructed and opened 35,000 sq. ft. Regional Biocontainment Laboratory, funded by the National Institutes of Health. The CPM provides facilities and expertise to support the development, refinement, qualification and use of small animal models to evaluate new therapeutics and vaccines for efficacy against emerging pathogens including, Bioterrorism Category A-C agents as well as other infectious agents that continue to place a heavy burden on the health of our society.
